Fitness winner crowned
A former soldier, successful Townsville business owner and new father of a bouncing baby girl says he is stoked to be named North Queensland’s fittest male physique.
“It’s always nice I guess to be a pillar of motivation for people and to inspire people,” Paul Davis, 34, said at his gym, PD Headquarters, on Tuesday.
“Running a business, starting a new family, trying to look after all my employees and clients it does get pretty busy so I suppose it’s nice to be able to show people that you can still achieve your goals without it being detrimental to your physique or your lifestyle and what you really hold as priorities in your life.”
Originally from Victoria, Davis moved to Townsville with the military before opening his own gym five years ago.
PD Headquarters has been so successful that he recently moved the business to larger premises at Charters Towers Road and currently has 1000 registered “active members”.
“It was a lot of hard work, a lot of long hours as many small business owner would be able to understand but now we’ve grown to a large gym with 10 employees.”
Asked about his success and rapid expansion, Davis put it down to good-quality service and integrity.
“We don’t do contracts, we don’t lock people in so we have to provide a good service otherwise people can leave at any time,” he said.

that people can implement into their lifestyles … we make it fun, we hold people accountable and get them coming back consistently.”
Mr Davis put his physique down to enjoyment and understanding the physical-fitness process.
“Education is a big part, always trying to improve yourself and trying to learn, staying consistent and finding the enjoyment in it – fall down eight times and pick yourself up nine.”
He said he had a number of clients looking to compete in bodybuilding competitions toward the end of the year and was himself aiming for the World Beauty Fitness & Fashion (WBFF) 2023 competition on the Gold Coast in November.
