1Rugby fans in Townsville can look forward to a feast of food, music, and entertainm­ent ahead of the Queensland Reds game against the Waratahs tonight. Townsville Eats will take place at Flinders Street East from 4pm to 9pm. The event is an opportunit­y to show support for the #Redsfamily before making the short walk to the a stadium to cheer on the Reds. Food trucks, live music, kid’s attraction­s, and roving entertaine­rs will be on offer, making it the perfect way for fans to come together before the rugby game.

Children are in for a treat this weekend as Boori Monty Pryor, author and Australia’s first Children’s Laureate, joins forces with local illustrato­r Rita Sinclair for a morning of storytelli­ng, music, and more. The event, called Story Doctors, is based on Pryor and Sinclair’s book of the same name and is geared towards children aged 8 years and above. This is a fantastic opportunit­y for kids and will take place on Sunday from 1011am at Citylibrar­ies Riverway, and admission is free.

The annual Show N Shine event, presented by Cyclones Rod and Custom Club Townsville and sponsored by Twin Cities Pool Supplies, is set to take place at Jezzine Barracks on Sunday. The event, which showcases some of Townsville’s best cars, is free to attend and runs from 9 am to 3 pm. This year, the event will be a charity fundraiser, with proceeds going to a local cause. The event promises to be a great day out for car enthusiast­s and families alike, with food stalls, entertainm­ent and activities for the kids.

4The Kelso Art Group is holding an exhibition at the Art at Jezzine Gallery in North Ward until May 25. The group meets every week with art teacher Lyn Mott ( pictured) and consists of a small band of ten artists. Lyn has been teaching the group for 25 years on a voluntary basis. The Kelso Kreative Kapers exhibition showcases the group’s unique and diverse art pieces, which include paintings in watercolou­r, acrylic, and pastel. The group is proud to have their work on display and invites everyone to the gallery.

5The Townsville Watercolou­r Group is hosting a Mother’s Day Art Sale today at Mo’sart Gallery in Railway Estate. The event will take place from 10am to 4pm and admission is free. The exhibition and sale of artworks are geared towards Mother’s Day, and the venue is a local tropical garden and gallery where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea with the artists and discuss their work. The group has been busy creating many new floral works in various styles, sizes, and pricing, so there is something for everyone.
