VIVO ENTERS SA MARKET

-

Cellular provider VIVO is changing the face of the South African mobile market, with the introduction of its Y-series

Ok, so what is it?

The Y-series is a duo of smartphones (the Y91C model and its – slightly more sophisticated – Y11 counterpart) that offer the latest technological features, within a highly competitive price range.

Is it a looker?

Both models combine a sleek, futuristic aesthetic with a highly accessible interface, integrating Funtouch technology and a highly generous screen-to-phone ratio. The brand’s approach to design facilitates an organic mode of user engagement, allowing for a familiar feel. What about the camera quality?

With 89% of the phone comprising the screen alone, the Y11’s dual-camera model is a would-be photographer’s dream. The conjunction of narrow bezels, and a 13MP/2 MP-camera combination not only guarantees that the device is comfortable to handle but also equips it to capture animate subjects and landscapes with the same degree of efficacy.

Does the battery go the distance?

The phone comes with a mega-battery (5000mAh) which means thanks to its power-saving infrastructure, it can go a few days without a charge – making it perfect for loadshedding!

What are some of the major differences between the two models?

The Y91C alternative has upped the ante for entry-level smartphones, most notably using the same state-of-the-art AI technology as the

Y11, to optimize camera performance and pre-emptively refine portraits and photographs. The Y91C automatically enhances one’s facial features based on an in-built beatification algorithm. The 88.6% screen-to-body ratio is only marginally less generous than that of the Y11.

So, how can I get my hands on the phone? South Africa is only the second African country to garner access to VIVO. The Y-series is currently available at leading cellular shops.

Finally, what’s the damage? The Y11 model sells for R2,699, or one can opt for the Y91C, which retails for R1,899.
