The Classic Holden Car Club of the Northern Territor y is a group of people of a ll ages wit h a common interest in old Holdens, genera lly over 30 years of age. The club started in 1998 as t he EH-HR Holden Club and was changed in 2000 to become the Classic Holden Car Club of t he Northern Territor y Incorporated to involve a greater cross-section of Holden owners. Membership current ly stands at around 130.

The club caters for both original and modified cars in var y ing condition. Not a ll cars are pristine as each owner has dif ferent idea ls, tastes and use for t heir cars. Member vehicles range from ever yday hacks to award-winning show pieces.

This club r uns a litt le dif ferent to ot hers as we don’t rea lly have meetings, t he committee meets regularly but as a club we just have monthly f unctions for people to attend wit hout getting bogged down by details and polit ics. All f inancia l members can attend committee meetings if they choose and AGMs are a given and genera l meetings are ca lled when t he need arises. For us, time has shown t hat it is a good way to run a club.

While its members are mainly from Dar win, Palmerston and the rura l areas, we also have members in Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Jabiru.

This family-oriented group hosts reg ular events including r uns, ra llies and show ‘n’ shine days as well as socia l f unctions such as cricket matches, ten pin bowling and quiz nights. The club produces regular newsletters t hat detail activ ities. Members are willing to share t heir adv ice on a ll technica l matters.
