SERIAL VALIANT OWNER

-

I had great pleasure reading your article on VF and VG Pacers. I’ve owned round 30+ Valiants. At one point I purchased three Blue VF Pacers for just $700. All were drivers, complete and in reasonable condition. They all had the usual worn gear lever linkage but only one had rust in back right quarter. The car’s motor pictured in the article has after-market extractors .

I owned the VG two-door Pacer white. The article failed to state that the firewall to rear of the body were imported from the USA including the interior. I recollect that they were Dodge Dart bodies. I replaced the cam with an E38 unit, changed the harmonic balancer and oil pump to a higher volume , modified the head, fitted extractors and four-barrel carburettor mounted on its side to stop fuel surge which all fourbarrels suffered from in general use. A friend still has a genuine four-door, fourbarrel with large fill tank in orange. The VG’s developed cracks in the frame near the steering box and I’ve had two repaired. I had the VH Pacer which came with the prefix D33 block like Charger E37/38 as did my Magenta VH RT two-barrel. The three-speed gear lever still had the same wear problems as the Pacers. How long did it take Chrysler to fix anything ? I sold the lot virtually at one time, along with around 25 other Valiants from AP5 to CL including VH 770 Charger sixes and V8s.

Ah, decisions you make!

ED: What’s that line? Tis better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all.
