In 1976 Colin Chapman launched his wildest road car to date, the Lotus Esprit Series 1, a lightweight, wedge-shaped projectile powered by the famed Lotus 2.0-litre twin-cam four sitting behind the cabin. Styled by Giugiaro, the Series 1 was made famous as James Bond’s submarine car in the film The Spy Who Loved Me.
