1981 DELOREAN

DMC-12

-

BACK TO the Future with this very clean DeLorean.

John DeLorean left his job at General Motors to set up DeLorean Motor Company in 1973.

Almost a decade later his DeLorean DMC 12 finally hit the market. By then the US economy was in recession and the car received lukewarm reviews. By February 1982, more than half of the roughly 7,000 DMC-12s produced remained unsold and the company was placed into receivership with debts of a $175 million.

This 1981 model in grey, with an auto trans mated to the 2.8-litre V6 has just 9,500 miles on it and is in very original and unmodified condition.

Due to their rarity and the company owner’s notoriety, DeLoreans are looking at a brighter future than the company did in the early 1980s.
