1972 BMW 2002 TOURING

“I BELIEVE there now five 2002 Tourings in Australia but this is the only registered one in Queensland that I know of. They are becoming a very rare car and being mostly English cars imported to Australia, many are full of rust. I was lucky with this car, it only spent one year in the UK when a doctor bought it out to Canberra where it stayed for many years. I bought it off a girl in Melbourne.

That was 13 years ago, and my wife Sue and I flew down and drove it back. Then it took one year and one week to do a complete nut-and-bolt restoration. I put an engine out of one of my racing ’02s in it and it now has about 180hp. I used to sprint race this one but it became too rare and valuable so now we only use it on Sundays.”
