IN ISSUE 401, John Stoneham added to an article from Issue 399 about the Ford Laser TX3 4WD in which he competed in Targa Tasmania with Tim Lynas of the Barossa Valley’s Valley Ford. It was the official Ford Motor Company entr y at the inaugural Bathurst 12 Hour race of Easter 1991, finishing 2nd outright. Tim subsequently bought the car from Ford.

Ver y generously, Tim lent the car to Ford franchisee Colin Faulkner of Eclipse Ford Ballarat and he and I competed with great success in it in the Grand Pri x Rallies. It was a ver y well balanced car with amazing grip and was fantastic to drive on the limit.

John suggests that Kent Youlden built the car but it was actually built for the Ford Motor Company by Ted Robinson of Robinson Racing Developments.

He later went on to build a hot rod version for Dick Johnson.

Ted has built a huge range of racing cars over many years from the Londonto-Sydney XT Falcon (third place), Formula Fords, Porsches, Commodores and especially Falcons, including the Cenovis Falcon for Allan Moffat.

He has an enviable record of never having had one of his cars not finish a Bathurst race.
