XY ALPHABET SOUP

I was pleased with the wagons feature as I have always liked them whether Holden, Ford, Chrysler or others. Having owned an XY Fairmont V8 wagon for 30 years, I’d like to point out a number of things about the XY model. Wagon ID numbers: Fairmont – JG35; Falcon – JG30; Falcon 500 – JG 31.

XY wagons never optioned the 351 V8, although some say one was built.

Also the twin exhaust was not an option probably because the pipe on the passenger side passes too close to the fuel-tank filler hose. The GT mock-up sold by Shannons last year was a rare Falcon 500 wagon with factory 302 and 4 speed (with original engine), paint code H which is track red and interior code B which is black. It has been fitted with Fairmont seats and Fairlane door trims (it’s currently for sale in a Frankston, Vic, showroom).
