I was pleased with the wag­ons fea­ture as I have al­ways liked them whether Holden, Ford, Chrysler or oth­ers. Hav­ing owned an XY Fair­mont V8 wagon for 30 years, I’d like to point out a num­ber of things about the XY model. Wagon ID num­bers: Fair­mont – JG35; Fal­con – JG30; Fal­con 500 – JG 31.

XY wag­ons never op­tioned the 351 V8, although some say one was built.

Also the twin ex­haust was not an op­tion prob­a­bly be­cause the pipe on the pas­sen­ger side passes too close to the fuel-tank filler hose. The GT mock-up sold by Shannons last year was a rare Fal­con 500 wagon with fac­tory 302 and 4 speed (with orig­i­nal en­gine), paint code H which is track red and in­te­rior code B which is black. It has been fit­ted with Fair­mont seats and Fair­lane door trims (it’s cur­rently for sale in a Frankston, Vic, show­room).
