“XY WAGONS NEVER OPTIONED THE 351 V8, ALTHOUGH SOME SAY ONE WAS BUILT ”

- William Heron Email

numbers on XY Fairmont 4-speed wagons, a Ford historian has advised a total Fairmont wagon build figure of 3600. I couldn’t get the build figures for Falcon wagons. Most Fairmont wagons were 6-cylinder column-shift autos with saddle interior the most common trim colour. A large number had two-tone paint jobs. The rarest wagons are T-bar autos or 4 speed manuals in 6 cylinder or V8 and GS wagons. In the late 80s I saw a lot of XW and XY Fairmont wagons scrapped for their interiors and running gear to build GT replicas.

A final note – at the 2015 Victorian Hot Rod Show 2015 there was a factor y-original Holden HG wagon with 350 V8 and Powerglide auto in plain white with gold interior. An awesome sleeper. ED A hill of wagon facts that you couldn’t jump over, right there, William. Respect! ED: Cliff Chambers, who values cars for a living, says: “$2000-20,000 depending on how rough it is and what’s missing. Impossible to value things like this without photos but that’s the range I’d be working within. Bear in mind that even a car that is pretty much all solid metal will cost around $50,000 to restore and one that needs lots of panel work will more than double that cost.” Hope that’s of some help Dion.
