Building a healthier future

-

World Expeditions has created a new community project in the village of Huilloc in Peru’s Sacred Valley in conjunction with a 13-day CuscoSalcantay-Machu Picchu trek or as a four-day extension trip. Renowned for its traditional farming and weaving amid the mysterious Inca ruins, the Huilloc community is impacted by serious health issues caused by poorly constructed cook stoves. Each program includes a $200 donation to the World Expeditions Foundation to cover the cost of the stove materials, the wage of an expert to oversee the installations and the transport of the materials to Huilloc. While in the village, trekkers will watch a traditional weaving demonstration by the local Huilloc women and observe the local men tending their fields before visiting the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Departing from Cusco, the 13-day trek departs 7 July, 2017. worldexpeditions.com.au
