Bannisters By The Sea, Mollymook, New South Wales

- By Jennifer Campbell

Imagine a coastal haven for the senses, where you can soak up the views of the steel-blue Tasman Sea, and watch pods of playful dolphins and migrating whales from your balcony. Just a three-hour drive south of Sydney lies Bannisters By The Sea in Mollymook, an idyllic getaway or honeymoon retreat near to one of the South Coast's most picturesque stretches of golden sand. Removed from the town's hum of tourists, there are two properties of choice. For beachcombers and surfers, Bannisters Pavilion is only 800 metres from the beach, with each of the 33 contemporary suites featuring luxurious king-size beds for the deepest sleep and a breezy palette to complement the luxury, comfort and natural light. Adding to the guest experience is the Rooftop Bar and Grill, which overlooks a suspended pool bedecked with sun beds and a canopy of dense treetops. Hugging Mollymook’s coastal cliff just two minutes away is Bannisters By The Sea, a collection of chic guest rooms and suites that give you a reason never to leave. An oasis of tranquillity, the bespoke rooms are of exceptional design, with some including private spas, separate living quarters and ocean views with private balconies. If you make your way to the top, you can luxuriate in one of four penthouse suites designed by Collette Dinnigan, the aptly-named Pinnacle, or one of two, one-bedroom penthouses at the Pavilion featuring rustic overtones, oak floors and in one, a double sided fireplace. But save the best for last.

Enjoy mouth-watering seafood at Rick Stein at Bannisters and indulge in a treatment at the Day Spa, which draws inspiration from the surrounding native bushland and lapping waters. bannisters.com.au
