One&Only Reethi Rah, Maldives

I’ve never seen a location more beautiful than the Maldives. It is my first foray into this exotic place and I am on the beach at One&Only Reethi Rah. The beautiful sparkling tropical turquoise-hued waters are indeed lapping on the whiter-than-white sand. It really does look like something you would see on a postcard. I am ensconced in a spacious luxury private pool villa but, as beautiful as it is, and it is one of the most beautiful villas I have stayed in, it is the delights of the turquoise lagoon that entice me outside again and again. I swim hither and yon, head swivelling as I follow the tropical fish darting about below me. When I tire, I stroll back around the lagoon’s shoehorn white beach, just marvelling at the colours of this incredible place. As hunger strikes, I set out on my villa’s pushbike for a lazy peddle through the shady palm corridors and sandy green laneways criss-crossing the island’s tropical interior. The food offerings are divine, from the eggs Benedict for breakfast, wagyu gourmet cheeseburger for lunch and sushi and sashimi at the island’s signature Japanese restaurant, Tapasake, for dinner.
