Hotelier Ian Schrager, in partnership with Marriott International, has opened The West Hollywood Edition hotel on Sunset Strip. Guests enter the hotel from a driveway off Sunset Boulevard behind a wall of foliage featuring 56 species of indigenous southern Californian plants. The property at 9040 West Sunset Boulevard has been designed by renowned British architect, John Pawson. Artwork reflects the hotel’s location, with pieces by renowned Los Angelesbased artists. The hotel’s restaurant Ardor is run by Californian-native and Michelin-starred chef, John Fraser; while The Roof at The West Hollywood Edition offers a 360-degree vista. Rates start from US$395 (about A$572) per night.
