Up the ante

-

Richard Parker, cosmetic chemist and founder of Rationale, has always had a simple philosophy – nix skin concerns head-on so there’s simply no need to spend time covering them up. “There is no greater beauty credential than pristine, luminous skin. And I believe that everyone deserves great skin,” says Parker. Thankfully, he practises what he preaches with supercharged skin treatments that are as results-focused as they are relaxing. THE FACIAL: EpiNova Photosonic Facial

THE LOWDOWN: Don’t expect layers of aromatherapy oils and soothing whale songs: the EpiNova facial means business. Starting with a double cleanse, the therapist will diagnose any problem areas and customise the rest of the treatment. Exfoliation comes next, but the real hero of the treatment is the enzyme reactivation treatment, which can be dialled up (for stronger skin types) or down (for sensitive skin), targeting everything from hyperpigmentation to pollution and breakouts. The treatment is topped off with a vitamin infusion mask delivered via ultrasound to tackle those deeper layers and, finally, hypnotic light therapy to stimulate collagen and elastin while also sending you into a relaxed slumber. For optimum results book in for four monthly treatments.

THE RESULT: For two days post-treatment my skin is visibly more glowy and I can forgo my medium coverage foundation for a sheer, tinted moisturiser. The milia (small white bump) I’ve developed under my left eye disappears in a matter of days and it’s as if the super-fine dehydration lines on my forehead have had a water infusion: they’re plumped up and barely visible.
