THE EVERYWHERE MAN: Jaime Hayon
Yes, there is such a thing as Milan royalty. Think of the names that have dominated Salone del Mobile for the past decade: Urquiola, Dixon, Wanders, Citterio, Sato... and Hayon. The Spanish virtuoso left his mark on 2017 with Stone Age Folk, a dazzlingly theatrical collaboration with Caesarstone at the historical Palazzo Serbelloni; there were Hayon’s captivating rug designs for fellow Spaniard Nanimarquina; and Fritz Hotel, created for Danish brand Republic of Fritz Hansen. The pop-up faux hotel lobby brilliantly matched Scandinavian rigour with Hayon’s maverick spirit to create one of Design Week’s most exciting installations. Visit hayonstudio.com.
