In little more than half a century, Milan Design Week has grown from a mere Furniture Fair (Salone del Mobile) to Fuorisalon­e, the world’s largest and most important design carnival. And while the party may never return to pre-GFC levels ( Vogue Living remembers models swinging from chandelier­s at Moooi), 2017 didn’t disappoint. There was spectacle aplenty at Caesarston­e, at Cos and at Tom Dixon’s ambitious Multiplex. Lee Broom created a magical monochrome carousel to celebrate his design studio’s 10th anniversar­y. Atelier Biagetti went gold while Marni transforme­d its vast Viale Umbria showroom into a temporary beach, complete with coloured sand.
