DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY AT LA MACCHIA BEACH CLUB

-

La Macchia is the ultimate in low-key luxury, a beach club set within an immaculately restored 17th-century building on the coast of Capalbio, a two-hour drive north of Rome. A generous stretch of beach on either side of the building extends at least 10 kilometres while the surrounding thousand-plus hectares of land is owned by two families, the Puri-Negri and the Resta Pallavicino. It’s the brainchild of Carlo Puri-Negri, who restored the building and then proceeded to find 30 members to start the club, and his wife and chairman of the club, Giulia, who appointed young architects David Lopez Quincoces and Fanny Bauer Grung from Quincoces-Dragò & Partners to transform the interiors. “La Macchia opens late afternoon for aperitivi and dinner,” says founding club member Francesco Boglione, “and is not averse to playing great music for dancing on the deck late into the night. Like any club, members, which are now in excess of 100, can invite guests as they wish.”
