Strong performance from Swamp Tigers
Division six
A timely 54 not out from Sean McCormack helped propel Iona to a winning score against Drouin. Gary Charleston (30) and Bob Rogers (28) ensured the Swamp Tigers got through their overs helping their side reach 8/139.
Brad Cross was the danger man with the ball picking up 4/28. Troy Walker was economical early on claiming 3/10 off eight overs. Drouin made a slow start in reply until John Tyrrell (33) and Rob McLeod (25) got the scoreboard ticking over. Unfortunately for the Hawks their middle and lower order failed to fire resulting in the home side being dismissed for 129. Nathan Marriott was effective opening up taking 3/30 while Rodney Bone chimed in with 3/17.
Yarragon big winners
Cricket returned to the centre oval at Logan Park with Jindivick taking on Yarragon. Electing to bat first Yarragon suffered a slight hiccup before Carlo Ierfone with a blistering 44 (eight fours and one six) and Steven Green a measured 22 got the innings on track.
Norm Evans (32) and Daniel Loft (22) helped push the score past 150 with the Panthers finishing there overs with 8/168. Tim Moore returned the incredible figures of 3/3 off five with three maidens while Harrison Moore chipped in with 3/9 off five overs.
Robert Sanders’ 49 was the highlight of a disappointing Jindivick batting card. Harrison Moore started well with 17 as did dangerous Daryl Bagnall. The Jumping Jacks did bat their overs and finished the day at 9/123. Despite being a bit erratic Tony Kleeven snared 3/16 with support from Darren Davidson 2/29 and Carlo Ierfone 2/35.
Dour contest between neighbours
Garfield-Tynong came out on top in the battle with neighbouring rivals Bunyip. Batting first Bunyips Daniel Helmore (21) and Darren Hill (22) offered the only resistance as the Bulls battled through 30 overs to post a total of 77. Riley Matthews picked up 4/10 and Mick O’Neill took 3/9.
Garfield struggled throughout the run chase but Mick O’Neill (19) and Leigh Carter (17) did enough to get the Titans home in the 30th over finishing the day on 7/88. Darren Hill was the best of the bowlers with 2/17.
