Make a pledge

-

People are being asked by the CFA to make a pledge to fire safety this summer.

Those that do could find themselves winning $1000 for their nominated brigade and a $200 Bunnings voucher for themselves.

More than 3000 pledges have already been made at TheFireSafetyPedge.com.au in the first three weeks the program has been open. All it takes is to make an online declaration. People simply select the fire safety actions they plan to take to better prepare against the threat of fire.

Some options are checking local fire danger ratings each day, searching for warnings and information about fires on hot days or talking with friends and families about fire risks.

The public is also asked to make pledges about actions they can take around the house such as testing smoke alarms monthly and changing the batteries each year.

There are three $1000 prizes for brigades -the highest number of pledges, the highest number on a per capita basis and the most pledges in a town with a population of fewer than 100 people.
