MAJOR PROJECT FOR TENNIS CLUB

-

A fund-raising target of $22,000 has been set by Drouin Tennis Club to replace fencing around four of its courts in Bennett St.

Wind damage and the age of the current fencing has raised safety concerns.

Fun-raising co-ordinator Helen Van Venrooy said it was a major project to install a new fence at the courts that are heavily used by members and the general public.

The club has teams in senior competitions, offers junior coaching and has more than 100 junior players, conducts night and mid-week competitions throughout the year and the courts and clubrooms are also used by local schools.

It has also recently installed a ramp for disabled access to two courts.

Ms Van Venrooy said a trivia night to be held on Friday, November 13, would be a major step towards the fund-raising target and is seeking people or businesses to sponsor a table or donate prizes for the night.

People interested in attending or assisting can contact Ms Van Venrooy on 0409 421 663, Catherine Thorpe 0432 868 304 or Maree Clebney 0413 248 315.
