Presbyteri­an minister elected to high office

Drouin Presbyteri­an Church senior minister Mark Smith has been elected State Moderator of the church for the next 12 months.

The youngest person to be elected to the position the Right Reverend Smith has ministered at Drouin since 2008.

Married and with three children aged between 16 and 11 his role as Moderator will be to lead the General Assembly of the Presbyteri­an Church during its main meetings and represent the State Church at various functions and travel to a number of churches throughout the state on behalf of the assembly.

Rev. Smith will continue his role at the Drouin church with his absences catered for by Assistant Minister Heath Easton and the church’s team of local volunteers.

He will maintain roles on the committee overseeing the Combined Churches’ Food Relief ministry in Warragul and as chaplain to the Gippsland Umpires’ Associatio­n and continue his involvemen­t with a number of other events as well as his interest in hockey in which his involved as an umpire and his children as players.
