When a terrific downpour of rain hit the course on Saturday, most players retreated to the safety of the club house.

Phil Dignan soldiered on. He may have been soaked to the bone but his reward was to win A grade with 39.

Ron Noncentini had the benefit of a later start but his 41 was still an impressive effort and saw him the B grade winner.

Rhys Fairlie was even more impressive. His 43 took out C grade and was the best score for the week.

Nearest the pins were 5th Bobbie Batten, 8th Alphons Duivenvoor­dan, 10th Dean Robbins, 14th and pro pin Paul Lunt.

On Wednesday Tom Carroll put aside the worries of presidency and just enjoyed his golf. Playing of the black markers was quite a challenge but his 37 was good enough to take out A grade.

Richard Sheehan won B grade with 35. Michael Nowotny had the best score of the day. His 41 took out C grade.

Today there will be a stableford for men and women, while Saturday is the monthly medal.

Women

Tuesday October 27 was the annual Gymkana Day with beautiful roses given as prizes from Drouin Nursery.

The club thanked to Peter for his ongoing support for this event.

Windy conditions did not deter the big field, and it was great to see so many visitors.

A grade winners with 45 points were Leonie McClure and Leanne Pollard. Runners up with 42 points were Judy Dixon and Kay Hewitt.

B grade winners with a very nice score of 49 points were Pat Alexander and Cheryl Trickett, while runners up with 46 points were Audrey Farthing and Marge Munckton.

Straightes­t drive went to Gail Wight .

Longest drive for A grade was Glenda Kelly, B grade was Marg Rowe, and C grade went to Cheryl Trickett.

Nearest the pins went to Leonie McClure on the fifth and to Joy Marriott on the 14th.

Down the line balls went to DeArne Gipp and Carol Ronalds 43, Hanne Leferink and Ruth Johnson 43, Pam Soutar and Val Johnson 43, MonicaGidl­ey and Mary Tymensen 41,Leesa Matthews and Sharon Carmody 41(c/b).

Today there will a stableford event with a rolling start.

The following Tuesday will be a stroke event, where the Star medallist for 2015 will be played off.

Dates coming up are the Drougal Cup on Saturday November 7 and personal guest day on Tuesday November 17.

Seniors

A good field of 38 seniors competed in their nine hole event last Thursday.

The winner in the women’s division with a good score of 22 points was Pam Soutar.

The runner up was Pat Alexander with 21 points, followed by Fay Downward with 20 points, Marion Devlin and Dagmar Forbes with 18 points each, Kay Grieve, Judy Dixon and Helen Andreason with 16 points each, and Mildred Lyon, Audrey Farthing and Katrina Ferguson each with 14 points.

In the men’s division, the winner was Ray Fish with 22 points.

The runner up was Graeme Alexander with 19 points, followed by Tex Devlin with 18 points, Con Norris and Tony Farrugio with 17 points each, Richie Thomas, Reg Dixon and Tony Reid with 15 points each, and Graham Dorling and Gordon Warren each with 14 points.
