Morning golf possible at Warragul

Only the morning groups were able to finish their rounds as afternoon thunder and lightning sent the afternoon field from the course so only 72 were able to complete 18 holes.

Some of the afternoon group ventured out after the weather had cleared and decided to play skins.

Best return from those who completed their rounds was Richard Hojnacki (B grade) with 44 points.

Other grade winners were Noel Delves (A) 41 and Rod Pointer (C) 42.

Runners up were James Bjorksten (A) 39, Andrew Sceney (B) 41 and Ray Waters (C) 40.

Womens winner was Irene Eastham on countback from Marg McNulty both finishing on 38 points. Midweek A strong east wind made scoring difficult for most of the field of 113 on Tuesday.

One that did not have any trouble was Jim Kennedy (C grade) with a great score of 43 points.

Other grade winners were Alan Walker (A) 39 and Glynn Trevor (B) also 39.

Runners up in each grade were Troy Thomas (A) 37, Alex Misky (Drouin) (B) 38 and Wilson Pollock (C) 39.

Women

The first round of the club championsh­ips and the Nancy Pattinson trophy were played last Wednesday in warm conditions.

The event is a stroke round and the clubs most prestigiou­s singles event.

The club had 51 women play in the 18 hole competitio­n.

A grade winner was Jo De Jong 8619-67, with runners up Shirley Todd 9019-71.

B grade winner was Barbara Davidson 99-25-74 with Penny Scott runner up 98-23-75.

Molly Answerth took out C grade 106-36-70, while Mario Cumming was runner up. 107-32-75.

Balls down the line went to Debbie Corstorphi­n 85-12-73, Kay Thompson94-19-75, Judith Shearman 96-2175, Marg McNulty 101-25-76, Joy Marriott 90-14-76, Tracey Rabl 101-25-76, Kaye Rollinson 103-27-76, Joan Nelson 105-29-76, Kerri Ahearn 88-11-77, Sue Rose 95-18-77.

Debbie Costorphin was also best scratch score for the day,

The fourth hole pro-pin for $30 voucher was won by Kylie Golding, seventh hole nearest the pin went to Maureen Kittlety, while. Rose Gallagher was nearest on the 15th.

The nine hole competitio­n was played by 12 women.

The winner was Jean Sheedy with a nett score of 32, next was Jean Radings nett 33 followed by Heather Reeves nett 34.

Tomorrow brings the second round of the club championsh­ips Nancy Pattinson Trophy.

It also incorporat­es the November monthly medal and counting putts.

Members are urged to check the time sheets so they don't miss their tee time.
