Longwarry goes down at home

Longwarry’s two Pennant teams played at home and both suffered defeats.

In Division 2, Longwarry won two of the four rinks but fell well short.

In Division six, they won one of the two rinks but lost by a narrow margin.

Division 2: Longwarry 4/82 lost to Traralgon (2) 4/82.

Eric Petersen, Ken Towt, Brian Hennessy and Barry White (skip) defeated P. Mustoe’s team 25/18. Longwarry had a great start and led 19/6 on end 14. They were outscored for the rest of the game but still had a good win.

Elio Meggetto, Reg Dunn, Hank Metselaar and Russell White (skip) defeated G. Talbot’s team 24/20. A close game with scores level on ends 11 and 18. Longwarry outscored Traralgon over the last seven ends to get over the line.

Graham Sparks, Allan Petersen, Frank Hone and Treavor Eastwell (skip) lost to A. Moore’s team 19/27. An even first half with scored level at 12/12 on end 13. Traralgon scored 15 shots to 7 on the home run including a six on end 15.

Mark Serong, Judy Eastwell, Gerard Mitchell and Ken White (skip) lost to L. Melhuish’s team 14/31. One-way traffic for most of the game.

Div 6: Longwarry (2) 2/42 lost to Yarragon (2) 8/46.

Don Collis, Peter Hengel, Laurel Purvis and John Watts (skip) defeated P. Petschel’s team 23/20. Longwarry had a great start and led 11/1 on the seventh end but by end 18 they trailed 16/17. A good finish saw them take the match.

Kevin Middleton, Eddie Bluck, Ron Sutton and Robert Purvis (skip) lost to B. Robert’s team 19/26. Longwarry led 19/7 on the 15th end but fell in a heap and lost the last 10 ends, mainly to multiple scores, for a disappointing loss.
