Warragul chalks up big win
Warragul Bowling Club had a very good day in round three of WGBD pennant on Saturday with three teams winning and one losing.
Division one was away to Morwell Club and had an almost unheard of 74-shot win with all rinks up. The start of the game was delayed by 45 minutes because of rain, but when it got underway Warragul adapted to the conditions far better.
Division 3A was home to Traralgon and had a good 35shot win with all teams up while division 3B was away to Drouin and lost by 45 shots.
In division five Warragul four was home to Garfield and had a narrow five-shot win while division six lost on forfeit.

Matt Smith, Michael Royce, Mike Cousens, Tony Peters lost to G. Moxey’s team 18/22. Jean Kydd, May Baldwin, Ron Mason, Len Duncan defeated R. Lamport’s team 22/14. Flynn Pallot, Freda Lay, Chris Wilkins, Trevor Crofts defeated D. Knight’s team 23/22.
Club singles
The club championship singles is down to the semi-final stages, with Terry Sullivan to play Peter Gallasch and Graeme Davis to play Matt Schreyer.
Mixed pairs
Warragul Bowling Club held its second Dorothy McGowan Memorial Mixed Pairs tournament on Sunday October 25 with a fabulous 40 teams participating.
Visitors came from Drouin, Moe, Trafalgar, Longwarry, Yallourn, Berwick, Narre Warren, Pakenham, Cardinia Waters, Monbulk, Inverloch, Dandenong Club, Hastings, Mitcham, West Rosebud and Ferntree Gully. There were also 16 Warragul teams in the field.
There were six three-game winners on the day and first prize went to Yallourn’s Nosha and Jo Michaels with 28 shots up.
Second place went to Drouin’s Barrie and Gwen Price with 24 shots up and third place went to Trafalgar’s Bruce Marino and Elaine Payne with 22 shots up.
Best game winners were Laurie Innes (Warragul) and Margaret Ratcliffe (Drouin).
