James Henry wins race of truth
The race of truth, the club time trial championship, didn’t attract much interest on Saturday.
Foul weather conditions and the thought of riding around on your own as fast as you could was enough to put most off even starting.
A miserable 10 competitors attended with only eight managing to finish.
James Henry was the winner of the open championship.
He managed the very respectable time of 35.02 for the three laps. This was an average speed of 41.87 km/h. Second was Latrobe City Cycling Club member Jim Timmer Arends.
Jim averaged just over 40km/h. Third was Jayden Manintveld.
Brett Rollinson was first in the M123 division with Shane Stiles second and Simon Baxter third.
Shane deserves a special mention as he completed the race on his road bike unlike the others who had custom built time trial equipment. Robyn Baker was the women’s champion. This week is the beginning of the criterium series which starts at Labertouche at 2pm. Members are required to enter online by Friday if they intend to race.
