New structure for business board

-

New terms of reference have been adopted for the Baw Baw Business Advisory Board.

The terms of reference endorsed by council reflect the new structure of the advisory board, which has been appointed for a two year term.

The business advisory board is now an executive committee advocating and focussing on three economic pillars that align with state and federal government policies.

A report to council said the board would align with: growing business in Baw Baw; the visitor economy; and innovation and digitalised economy.

The terms of reference state the board is a way for council to engage with the community on issues regarding business development, growth and sustainability.

Under the new two year term structure, council agreed to appoint Neville Cousins as an additional representative on the board.

A report to council said Mr Cousins would be co-opted by the board to provide advice on the visitor economy.

Cr Debbie Brown said council had made some changes to the business advisory board this year.

She said representatives on the board would now set up their own sub-committee and bring in information.

“It’s a way of being able to strengthen the information we have coming in to us.

“This is another way we can support our local economy and get the information in and out,” she said.
