Specialists stay in comfort
Healthcare professionals on rotation at West Gippsland Hospital can stay in comfort following a donation from Baw Baw Big Blokes to furnish their accommodation.
A $20,000 donation from the group has allowed West Gippsland Healthcare Group to furnish its five accommodation units as part of its Building Better Healthcare Accommodation project. The 7.2 star energy rated units comprise of four two-bedroom units and one one-bedroom unit.
The two bedroom units are double storey and consist of two spacious bathrooms, a welldesigned kitchen, separate lounge room, dining area and front and back private patio area.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group chief executive Dan Weeks said the architecturally designed units, located a short walk from the hospital on Sargent St had proven to be popular.
He said the level of comfort, privacy and security of each unit has received many compliments by professionals on rotation, especially thosethat have previously stayed in the older style cladded cottage accommodation.
“They are used a lot, we have a high turnover of specialists coming and going so it is meeting a need,” Mr Weeks said.
“Occupancy is seven nights a week and they are always full.”
Mr Weeks said it was West Gippsland Health Group’s goal to attract and retain highly skilled professionals dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the community.
“They would probably come anyway, it would have just been a question of whether we would need to put them up in a hotel, but we now have high quality facilities with everything they need to be comfortable.”
