Cats win big to hold spot in top six

Neerim-Neerim South held its spot in the top six with a big win over Lang Lang, 20-12 (132) to 6-7 (43).

The Tigers held their own in the first term before the Cats pulled away.

The Cats kicked seven goals to two in the second term to open up a handy buffer, before a further eight goals to one in the third ensured the match was in their keeping.

Tyssen Morrow and Chris Redl each kicked four goals for the Cats.

Michael Urie, Nathan Bayne, Jackson Ward, Calum Shiels and Josh Morrison were the major possession winners.

The Tigers were best served by Sam Kendell, Chris Brew, Brendon Boulton, Dylan Wilson, Jack Brickwood and Corey Boulton.

Cats claw Tigers

Neerim-Neerim South also recorded a strong win in the Reserves, 20-15 (135) to 3-4 (22).

The Tigers held their own in the first term, trailing by just eight points at quarter time, but would not kick another goal for the remainder of the match as the Cats took control.

Jeremiah Jones ran rampant in a best afield performanc­e, booting nine goals. He was supported by Tim Leicester, who booted four majors.

Other prominent players were Mathew Churchill, Toby Bayne, Cameron Nugent and Jimmy Bavadra.

The Tigers were best served by Bradley Thorpe, Anthony Meyer, Callum Soutar, Dan Kirby and Mark Hunter.

Cats too strong

Neerim-Neerim South were too strong for Lang Lang in the under 18s.

The damage could have been much greater had the Cats not been inaccurate, booting 10-20 (80) to 1-0 (6).

Bailey George booted five goals, while Tyler Pratt, Jack Mildren, Isaiah Abrahams, Mitchell Diston and Rhys George were also prominent.

Lachlan Dunn, Brent Miller, Griffin Shepherd, Stephen Aschenbren­ner and Trent Harvie tried hard for Lang Lang.

Cobras win away

Cora Lynn pulled away after half time to defeat Neerim-Neerim South in the under 16s, 9-11 (65) to 3-5 (23).

The Cats trailed by just nine points at half time but weren’t able to sustain the effort, as Cora Lynn kicked six goals to one after half time to run away with it.

Reuben Jenyns, Darcy Jones, Noah Davies, Liam Taylor, Matthew Ryan and Patrick Briffa were the better players for Cora Lynn.

Rhys George, Josh White, Jackson Saunders, Justin Lockett, Adam White and Lachlan Ward were the standouts for the Cats.
