Bunyip bounce back in big way

Bunyip bounced back in a big way and comfortabl­y accounted for finals aspirant Nar Nar Goon, 17-12 (114) to 5-5 (35).

Having gone down to Koo wee rup the previous week, the Bulldogs responded with a ruthless first half which saw them kick 12 goals to one to have the match in their keeping.

The Goon were more competitiv­e in the second half, kicking four goals to the Bulldogs’ five.

Kris Bedford and Mitch Davies kicked seven goals between them to be among the better players for the Bulldogs.

They were supported by Dean Fitzgerald, Nathan Lieshout, Rickie Crockett and Mark Johnson.

Nar Nar Goon were best served by Clint Williams, Trent Armour, Trent Noy, Richard Manley, Mark McManus and Dwayne Scott.

Bulldogs in thriller

Bunyip came from behind to win a thrilling match in the Reserves, 6-7 (43) to 5-9 (39).

The Goon had held a narrow lead throughout, only for Bunyip to score two goals in the final term to hit the front.

Ben Wright, David Bates, Steve Berryman, Marc Jolley, Sam Davies and Tom Strang helped the Bulldogs complete the come from behind win.

For Nar Nar Goon it was Travis Simpkin, Adam Murray, Phillip Dorning, Jarryd Hendrikx, Borderick Selby and Daniel Mason who helped maintain the slight advantage for much of the contest.

Goon pull away

Nar Nar Goon pulled away after half time to comfortabl­y win the under 18s, 9-10 (64) to 4-6 (30).

Bunyip held a slight lead at half time before the Goon took control, kicking six goals to one in the second half.

Bailey Beck, Luke Dortmans, Dom Pullen, Jarrod Price, Nathan Simmons and Kayne Somers helped Nar Nar Goon to victory.

Matthew Fox, Sean Russell, Harrison Nadenbousc­h, Sam Michie, Matthew Nadenbousc­h and Alex McMillan were the standouts for Bunyip.

Bulldogs hold edge

Bunyip edged Nar Nar Goon in a low scoring under 16 match, 5-4 (34) to 2-4 (16).

The Bulldogs kicked three goals to one in the third term to open up a handy buffer, setting up the win despite a late goal to the Goon.

Harrison Booth, Joel Pope, Alex McMillan and Lachlan Shaw led the way for Bunyip, while Regan Hodge was also prominent before sustaining concussion.

Ethan O’Hoy, Cameron Swindle-Turpin, Jesse BellJanke, Charlie Davies and Cooper Hampton battled hard for Nar Nar Goon.
