Cora Lynn return to the top with thumping win

Cora Lynn scored a thumping win over Nyora to climb back on top of the Ellinbank District football ladder.

The Cobras kicked eight goals to one in the first term and were never headed on the way to winning 27-16 (178) to 2-2 (14).

The Saints failed to score as the Cobras piled on five in the second quarter and nine in the third term.

The Saints scored a goal in the final term, but the Cobras added another five majors themselves to round out a big win.

Ryan Gillis returned to form with seven goals, while Ricky Clark and Anthony Guiliano each booted four majors.

They were three of 12 individual goal scorers for the Cobras, who used the opportunit­y to rest some players with a few gaining promotion from the Reserves.

Chris McKay, Darren Maggio and Jason Toan handled the step up exceptiona­lly well.

Nicholas Helsby and Brady White also continued their good form.

Jordan Anderson, Gavin Hackett, Brett Kelly, Jacob Bohmer, Jesse and Dylan Heylen did their best to stem the tide for Nyora.

Cobras big win

Cora Lynn also scored a big win in the Reserves, 23-23 (161) to 0-1 (1).

The Cobras took control from the outset, scoring seven goals in the first term and not letting up.

Travis Ramsdale was listed as the Cobras best in a weekend which proved good for the men in the number 99.

He was supported by Darcy Robinson, Kane Martin, Steven Dillon and Blake Millier.

Luke Tagliaferr­o, James Harkess, Robert Mulvahill, Peter Gillin, Jacob Zwiersen and Travis White tried hard for Nyora.

Cobras in control

Cora Lynn took control after quarter time to run out a big win in the under 18s, 19-14 (128) to 10 (6).

Austin Gurnett goaled in the first term to keep Nyora in touch, but that would be the only joy for the match as the Cobras took control with a seven goal quarter putting the icing on the cake.

Lachlan Miceli led the way in front of goal with four majors.

Other prominent players for the Cobras were Brayden Weller, Jared Atkinson, Michael Rossetti, Heath Briggs and Adam Jenner.

Gurnett, Jack Ellams, Luke Zwiersen, Jake Henry and Jacob Lesjak were the better players in an undermanne­d Saints outfit.

Cobras rewarded

Cora Lynn’s under 16s travelled to Koo wee rup and were rewarded with the four points, scoring 5-13 (43) to 4-3 (27).

Greater accuracy helped the Demons stay in the contest with the scores level at three-quartertim­e. The Cobras kept the Demons scoreless in the final term to take the points.

Taiki Skipwith, Mosiah Addi, Dylan Alberni, Blake York, Lachlan Taylor and Corey Brook helped the Cobras to victory.

For the Demons it was Mitchell Davey, Josh Betts, Matthew Voss, Thomas Glassbarro­w, Jake Seuren and Rhys Grange-Lylak who kept them in the game.
