Drouin in badminton thriller

The Mid Gippsland junior badminton match of the week was played in D grade between second-placed Drouin and thirdplaced Ellinbank Blue.

Ellinbank started well winning the first doubles, but Drouin fought back winning the next doubles and leading by three aces.

Ellinbank picked up their game and won the last doubles putting them back in the lead. Tristan won his singles for Drouin, levelling the games again. Ilyan, put Ellinbank back in front again, winning the second singles.

It came down to the last singles game between Isabelle and Ben. Ben needed to win as many aces as possible for Ellinbank to win, while Isabelle needed to win by more than five aces for Drouin to win and she did, winning 30/24.

This confirmed Drouin’s place in second on the ladder.

Unfortunately two teams both last week and this week have lost premiership points because they submitted late score sheets.
