Drouin Dragons dominate Lang Lang

Drouin Dragons played another home game due to the pitch at Lang Lang not being ready for the newly formed Lang Lang team.

Drouin Dragon’s showed a dominant display of soccer across all games with the highest margin being 19 goals by the under 14s. Under 7s Due to great numbers there were two games played.

The Drouin boys went in full of confidence, and it showed out on the field.

They passed, they called for the ball, they attacked and tackled brilliantl­y.

Best On ground: Game 1: Will, for scoring a great goal after some excellent passing from his team mates; Game 2: Cal, for wonderful teamwork and excellent defending. Under 11s Score: Drouin 7 - Lang Lang 2 A good win by Drouin, with a great fast start with Reeve scoring two very nice goals quickly.

Ethan, Freya, Daniel, Rinnan and Kaleb gave good drive out of defence and were solid all day along with Kelton and Fletcher contributi­ng.

Mordecai played well in goals in the first half and kicked a nice goal in the second half of play.

Angel's tackling and chasing was good to watch and also some really good passing by Keiren up forward who managed to kick his first goal for Drouin.

Holly played a strong game in various positions and in the second half Kelton did not let a goal past playing goal keeper.

Freya had her best game for the year in midfield and when the forward line was open Drouin were dangerous.

Under 14s Score: Drouin 19 - Lang Lang 0 A dominant display by the under 14s saw Drouin Dragons kick eight goals to nil at half time and then kick another 11 goals in the second half.

Goal of the day belonged to striker Henry Grant heading a beautiful cross into the net.

The defence were strong allowing only a few scoring shot at goal by Lang Lang throughout the game.

The midfield played with passion and skill which was displayed with a good spread of players kicking goals.

Lachlan Beer had a day out, kicking 10 goals.

The Dragons girls were slow to start, with Lang Lang having a few shots at goal in the first ten minutes.

Great defence from Becky Bickerdike and Kate Boyer (in goals) stopped them short.

The Dragons then turned the tables and had much of the ball for the remainder of the half.

Sisters Jess Brown and Jenni Quaide were playing well together up forward, although goals were hard to come by.

Steph Morlings was the first to score after putting many shots into the keepers hands.

Jess Nalty wasn’t as lucky, she put shot after shot to the net, but was unable to capitalise. The girls finished the half with just one goal.

The second half saw a reinvigora­ted team. They chased the ball down, passed the ball around and supported each other.

Shots were put forward by most players but either played into the hand of the keeper or went wide. Training is paying off with the Dragons having much of the ball.

Jenni Quaife was well placed in the second half to knock in a pass from Steph. Becky Bickerdike also scored from a corner ball.

New recruit Caera Drury also put her name on the board after a move from the back line to up front. She took the ball nearly half the pitch, danced with the keeper and put the ball into the back of the net.

While the forwards were pushing hard, the defence never stopped. They continue to cut Lang Lang off, only allowing a few shots to make it to the cool hands of Jess Brown.

The all round team effort took the girls to a 4-0 win.

The match was played in sunny conditions on a pitch that was wet and heavy underfoot.

The first 10 minutes of play was open and flowing with both sides utilising their time on the ball well.

Shots on goal came from both sides with neither team being able to convert opportunit­ies early in the half.

It was Drouin Dragons that opened their account with a nicely executed goal from the left winger Ash Robinson in the 15th minute.

From there the flood gates opened with goals coming from From Caleb Hotchkin, Aaron Patchett and Tim Laidlaw. The half finished with Drouin ahead 60.

The second half started as the first did with both sides vying for possession and control of the midfield.

The play remained evenly contested until the 24th minute when Dragons striker Tim Laidlaw embarked on a decisive pressing attack through the middle to score a well timed goal.

Lang Lang continued their dogged play causing some challenges for Drouin's defence but they were unable to finish off on some exciting attacking plays.

It wasn't until the 40th minute of play when Aaron Patchett scored Drouin's eighth and final goal through a nicely coordinate­d offensive move through the middle of the field.
