Dusties keep in touch

-

Warragul Industrials scored a much-needed victory over Catani to stay in touch with the top six.

The damage could have been far greater had it not been for inaccuracy by Dusties, who scored 13-24 (102) to 3-3 (21).

Dusties made a strong start, but a return of 3-9 to half time well and truly kept the Blues in the contest.

The home side kicked away to a handy buffer going in to the final change, but could have enjoyed a better lead than the 41 points had it been for a better return than 4-10.

A further six goals to one behind in the final term blew the margin right out.

Jason Wells led the way up forward for Dusties, booting six goals.

Coach Shane Brewster led the charge, assisted by Mathew Willis, Dean Johnson, Will Jolley and Tye Holland.

Catani’s better players were Nathaniel Rodda, Tom Keily, Dylan Williams, Antonio Benvenuto, Luke McFarlane and Thomas Van Diemen.

Dusties strong

Warragul Industrials scored a strong win in the Reserves, 12-11 (83) to 4-3 (27).

Dusties kicked out to a 34-point lead at the first change and were never headed.

Coach Shane Ingham kicked six goals, while Damien Mullen, Scott Lindsay, Drew Davey, Ben Rathjen and Troy Kneebone were also prominent.

Sean Williams, Tony Butera, Dustin Peebles, Adam White, David Marson and Luke Innes tried hard for Catani.

Blues show fight

Warragul Industrials were too strong for Catani in the under 18s, prevailing 11-21 (87) to 0-2 (2).

Despite some initial fight led by Catani captain James Williams, Dusties were simply too good for a Blues outfit which relied on a large number of players backing up from the under 16s.

Ben Tyrell and Joseph Murfet each kicked three goals for Dusties, with Michael Morgan, Isaac Lalor, Nick Ollington and Tim Stoll also prominent.

Joel Benson, Jackson Caddy, Nathan Lineham, Liam Adams and Bailey Sporish were among the better players for Catani.

Dusties sweep

Warragul Industrials began its clean sweep by comfortable accounting for Catani in the under 16s, 10-9 (69) to 04 (4).

Blake Kahan and Noah Gown each kicked three goals in the big win, while Will Gibson, Korey Carrison, Liam Harman-Dorney and Nicholas Huggett were also prominent.

Catani were best served by Liam Adams, Maverick Kent, Mathew Burr, Braidyn Hall, Ryan Hanegraaf and Dylan Alberni.
