Shame on Vic Roads

-

Recently my wife had to attend Vic Roads in Warragul to have number plates changed on her vehicle.

The cost was surprising at $146, but the service was non existent and lacking in understanding.

On paying the bill she was told that the plates had to be changed and was handed a screw driver.

She explained that her hands are arthritic and would find it very hard to change the plates.

The officer explained that they could not help as they are unable to go outside, and as we lived in Trafalgar she could not drive home to get assistance.

On going outside she was eventually able to remove the front plate but not the back. Going back into the office she explained that the rear plate was unable to be removed as it was rusted and she could not remove the screws.

The response from the officer was to direct her to Bunnings Hardware and get them to do it. This she did and received excellent service from the staff at Bunnings. Well done to the Warragul staff of Bunnings, and thank you for your service and patience.

Shame on Vic Roads and their lack of understanding for a person with a disability. What is the reason - is it health and safety or work practices that prevents them from providing service?

Can I suggest that public servants remember who pays their wages and in the future provide service to customers. Michael Fozard Trafalgar
