Cats move to third to set up eliminator
Neerim-Neerim South moved to third on the Ellinbank District football ladder with victory over Garfield, 13-11 (89) to 9-12 (66).
The Cats held a narrow lead throughout much of the first half before making their move in the third term. The Cats booted five goals to two, opening up a 23point lead which they would hold at the final siren.
Tyssen Morrow kicked four goals, while Chris Urie and Chris Redl each chipped in with three majors.
Nathan Bayne, Josh Morrison, Ashley Lockett, Jackson Ward and Ben Davis were also prominent.
John Atwell kicked three goals for the Stars.
Lachlan Schreurs, Sam Batson, Rory Hower, Tyson Payne, Dan Clebney and Joel Morgan were the better players for the home side.
Cats on top
Top of the table Neerim-Neerim South scored a big win in the Reserves, 18-22 (130 ) to 1-1 (7).
The Cats kicked five goals in the first term and were never headed.
Tim Leicester and Nathan Phillips each kicked three goals for the Cats, while Mathew Churchill, Cameron Nugent, Dane Fawcett, Jack Erickson and Jayden Bell also played good games.
Blake Bailey kicked the Stars’ only goal. Rick Kamphuis, Tyler McMillan, Ray Smith, Jesse Lafrantz and Jason Bailey also battled against the odds.
Stars win big
Garfield were big winners in the under 18s, 23-14 (152) to 3-2 (20).
The Stars kicked five goals in the first term and were never headed.
Jackson Tribuzi kicked six goals while Rhys Murphy, Alex Sabbatucci and Ethan Sauze also contributed to the big score.
Daniel Helmore was best on ground, while Bailey Authemann also put in a strong performance.
Neerim-Neerim South were best served by Matthew Kelliher, Isaiah Abrahams, Jack Mildren, Tyler Pratt, Lachlan Guy and Travis McCann.
Comfortable Cats
Neerim-Neerim South scored a comfortable victory in the under 16s, 7-8 (50) to 1-4 (10).
The Cats pulled away in the second half, scoring four goals to just two behinds.
Noah Glen kicked three goals, with Rhys George, Cooper Clancy, Kyle Clarke, Lachlan Guy and Kyle Bright also helping the Cats to victory.
Josh Paterson, Matthew Freriks, Isaac Norrie, Tully Loomes, Liam Bow and Jesse Chamberlain were the better players for the Stars.
