Grand final berths on the line

-

Nar Nar Goon and Bunyip will fight it out for the right to face off against reigning premier Cora Lynn in the Ellinbank District football preliminary final.

Having matched the Cobras in a hotly contested opening half inSaturday’s second semi, the Bulldogs will return to Warragul’s Western Park with the view of earning another crack at the reigning premiers.

The Bulldogs easily won the first contest against Cora Lynn earlier in the season, and while the Cobras were missing some key players on that occasion, the Bulldogs will take some confidence from their first half last Saturday.

If they happen to win through to the grand final, they will be hoping to negate the Cobras ability to string goals together, a run of seven goals proving costly in the second semi.

First they have to contend with a Nar Nar Goon outfit brimming in confidence.

The Goon finished in sixth-place and were not expected to advance past the elimination final.

They have nothing to lose and could be a danger to the Bulldogs.

Injuries continued to mount for the Goon in an intense first semi final against Koo wee rup where the stretcher was called for on four occasions.

Reserves reigning premiers Warragul Industrials will be looking to advance to their second consecutive grand final.

Standing in their way is a Neerim-Neerim South outfit smarting from their first loss of thre season in last week’s second semi final.

The Cats have been the team to beat all season and will be out to prevent a straight sets exit.

The under 18 match between Buln Buln and Garfield also promises to be exciting.

The two clubs have played out some thrilling finals in the junior grades and this should be no different.

Western end rivals Nar Nar Goon and Koo wee rup will meet in the under 16s in what is expected to be another hotly contested match with a place in the grand final on the line.
