Dusties remain in finals race

Reigning premiers Warragul Industrial­s remain in the finals race after comfortabl­y accounting for Nar Nar Goon in the first semi final, 9-14 (68) to 3-8 (26).

The Dusties kicked four goals to one in the first term and by half time had the match in their keeping, adding another four goals to race out to a commanding 49-point lead.

A torrid second half ensued, with the Goon kicking two goals to one, but the damage had been done in the first half.

Damien Dawson enjoyed a rare foray up forward, finishing with four goals, while Jai Jose chipped in with two majors.

Rhett O’Hara made his presence felt, while Ryan Murray, Drew Davey and Brad Gorman were also serviceabl­e in the win.

Cody Andrews, Jarryd Hendrikx, Travis Simpkin, Robert Hermann, Adam Murray and Joseph Sweeney were named as Nar Nar Goon;’s better players.

Stars too strong

Garfield proved too strong in the under 18s, winning 11-9 (75) to 5-2 (32) to advance through to the preliminar­y final.

Despite pre-match talk of a fiery match, it didn’t eventuate with bith sides playing the ball.

The Stars pulled away in the second term, kicking five goals to one to open up a handy buffer.

The Stars went again after a tight thrid term, kicking five goals to one to run away with it.

Sam Whibley was best on ground, finishing with four goals.

Damion Denysenko, Aaron Tynan, Ryan Archer, Lachlan Schreurs and Alex Sabbatucci supported him.

Will Jolley kicked three goals for Dusties.

Riley Rundell, Murray Kingwill, Jake Bundle, Michael Morgan and Isaac Lalor were named as Dusties’ better players.

Goon 16s still in

Nar Nar Goon’s under 16s will join their senior side in the preliminar­y finals after edgding out Neerim-Neerim South in the first semi final.

The Goon held a narrow advantage throughout in a match that was well and truly alive at three-quarter-time.

The Goon kicked three goals to one in the final term to build on their 12point advantage and run away with it.

Brayden Fenwick, Jake Tabone, Cooper Hampton, Fletcher Rennie and Cameron Swindle-Turpin helped the Goon to victory.

Cooper Clancy, Noah Glen, Elijah Ford, Rhys George, Heath Darcy and Dustin Buckley were the better players for the Cats.
