Exciting activities at Drouin Primary

-

Term three at Drouin Primary has seen students right across the school partake in many exciting extra-curricular activities.

Grade students had a visit from Pacific Smiles dentist.

Students learnt all about dental hygiene and looking after their teeth. They enjoyed dressing up as a dentist with face masks, gloves and using different dental tools.

On August 24 the prep-2 students had a big fury four legged visitor come to visit each grade to help teach them about being a responsible pet owner.

Students learnt about what they should do if they come across an angry dog and also how to approach and pat a dog safely.

All students from prep right through to grade six have also completed a first aid training session with St John’s.

Students in Prep-grade 2 enjoyed participating in an interactive session about what they should do in an emergency and how to call 000 if they need help.

The grade 3-6 student’s sessions were focused on learning how to do CPR and DRSABC.

As part of Drouin Primary School’s science, technology and computer learning, students from grades 3, 4 and 4/5 enjoyed Bricks4Kidz sessions, using LEGO robotics to create “Drawbots” programmed to draw patterns based on students’ commands.

The focus of Bricks4Kidz is for students to develop teamwork, creativity, resilience, problem solving and logic skills through construction and robotics.

Students also used online coding software to learn visual programming to solve puzzles and to create images.

To finish off what has been a very busy but exciting term, Prep students will be heading off to visit the Melbourne Zoo to complete their living and non-living topic, while grade 5/6 students are looking forward to their excursion to the sports museum at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to end their unit of work on the Olympics.

Drouin Primary School pride themselves on providing a diverse range of learning experiences for its students.
