There’s something happening at The Courthouse

-

Warragul’s iconic Courthouse on Smith Street will re-open on Tuesday, September 27 after a main dining room renovation and the promise of an exciting new offering. Courthouse Executive Chef and Owner Leigh Marino of The Big Spoon Group fame will head up the venue and plans to bring more jobs to the Gippsland region by employing a number of new team members including a head chef, restaurant manager, bar manager and wait staff to compliment his existing team.

The Big Spoon Group has big plans to renovate the venue in three stages.

The first renovation will be complete when the venue opens and includes a much improved main dining room with a 65 seat capacity, including a brand new large seated bar which will be great for a casual drink and full bistro dining.

There will also be two private dining /function rooms with a capacity of ten people each. Larger functions can be accommodated upstairs.

In six to twelve months the upstairs cocktail lounge will be completed with extensive renovations and in twelve to eighteen months the garden bar will be refurbished to complete the total renovation.

The Courthouse will focus on top quality gastro pub cuisine - a far more relaxed offering that Leigh has provided in the past, complemented by great wines and beers at good local prices.

To tempt you - think Gippsland beef, house made mustards and béarnaise sauce.

Opening days will be Tuesday – Sunday with coffee and cake served from 6.00am weekdays and 8.00am on weekends whilst the main dining room will be open from midday for lunch and dinner serving food all day long.

The Garden bar will be open from midday with food and beverage also served all day.

Leigh plans to ramp up the take-away menu, planning to offer a far more extensive selection including pizza, pasta, salads and alcohol. The Courthouse will also be offering home delivery.

The garden bar will remain open and the outdoor area will be open all day with a full bar menu.

Leigh is very excited about the new Courthouse and said “I think the Courthouse is the best CBD venue in the Gippsland region and I plan to take some risks and ensure it reaches its full potential. We plan to make significant upgrades to the venue and, with its history, is here for the people of Warragul to enjoy. I want them to feel at home whether they are looking for a coffee, a beer or a great feed. The Courthouse will welcome them”.

The Big Spoon Little Spoon restaurant on Queen Street, Warragul plans to close permanently after service this Saturday night.
