Is it child abuse?

-

Were you disturbed to read in the digital Herald Sun: “Child and adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg told the Daily Telegraph that 250 children as young as three were being assisted by the gender dysphoria unit at Melbourne Royal Children Hospital"?

The Herald Sun article went on to state, 'A year 4 student in Melbourne's west is undergoing a ‘social' gender transition, including adopting a new name.

A workshop is reportedly being held at the unnamed school by Safe Schools Coalition cofounder Roz Ward to educate the pupil's class on how the child can be supported through the process.

The school plans to let the student use toilets and change rooms that fit their new gender, The Australian reports.

A letter was sent to parents this week to alert parents of the session, which it said was to assist with the gender choice of a student who is currently transitioning.

The session will include learning that considers how students can be a good friend and ally to people (of) all genders". Is this the education you expect from your child's school?

A new report by two Johns Hopkins University researchers, Dr. Lawrence Mayer and Dr. Paul McHugh published in The New Atlantis, evaluates data from over 200 peerreviewed studies.

It reveals that scientific evidence does not support the claim that homosexuals are "born that way." One of the most important details of the report is that a majority of adolescents no longer identify as transgender by adulthood.

As many as 80 per cent of teenage men who report same-sex attraction no longer do so as adults. The study also shows a very small portion of the total population, less than one per cent, identify as transgender.

It concludes there is no evidence to suggest that children should be encouraged to become transgender if they exhibit opposite gender behaviour. It especially warns against any treatments or surgeries on young people who identify with the opposite gender.

In the light of this report is the ‘assistance' being given our children by the Safe Schools Coalition and the Royal Children's Hospital actually child abuse! Perhaps we should expect this from the Socialist Republik of Victoria. Elizabeth Stephens Neerim South
