Noah steps forward to help others
Drouin’s Noah Lafrantz moved a step closer to his fundraising goal of $100,000 for Brain Cancer Research recently when he received a bottle of wine signed by former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent donated the item to Noah, which will be auctioned off at a fundraiser to be held in Geelong upon completion of the walk from Dromana.
A segment on television has inspired Noah to take part in the walk to be held later this month, which will raise money for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
Noah will walk 100,000 steps, beginning in Dromana and walking to Sorrento, taking the ferry to Queenscliff where he will make his way to Geelong on foot along the Bellarine Rail Trail. He is confident of making the 60km journey and is hoping to raise $1 for every step, or $100,000 for the cause.
With proceeds continuing to come in from the sale of raffle tickets, Noah is hopeful that community support will help him reach his goal.
Noah’s mother Jodi said fundraising had been very encouraging, with a local business in Drouin donating $5000 to the cause.
She said they would be selling raffle tickets in Echuca and at the Gippsland League grand final in the lead up to the event, and were hopeful last minute donations would continue to come in.
Noah has been training hard for the event by walking around Drouin. In the event of inclement weather, Noah has trained at the gym.
Noah was inspired to take part in the walk after watching a segment on The Project, which revealed that more children die from brain cancer than any other disease. Noah conducted some research and found that there was not much funding for the disease.
To help Noah reach his fundraising target for brain cancer research, share his Facebook page with friends or family. It can be found by searching @noahswalk4acure.
Noah would also be appreciative of fur- ther donated items for his raffle and/or auction. To donate phone 0475 766 488.
