Ellinbank wasted no time making the first posting on the board with the first possession of the match.
There was no room for error with both teams playing tight physical games.
The Bankers took advantage of some early errors by KWR and defenders Sam Hodge and Breanna Pratt made the most of forced passes into the circle.
By the first break Ellinbank had established a handy 13-7 lead.
The pressure was evident at the start of the second quarter as both teams struggled to hold possession.
KWR posted the first goal and took Ellinbank on goal-for-goal for much of the quarter.
Ellinbank showed great patience through the centre and feeding into their goalers but some inaccuracy at the post proved costly and KWR managed to reduce the margin by a goal - 22-17 at half time.
KWR made sweeping changes to their line-up coming into the third quarter and started to make inroads on the scoreboard.
Ellinbank defenders were hearing a lot of whistle and KWR took advantage to reduce the deficit to two goals.
At the other end of the court Ellinbank goalers struggled with accuracy and the frustration was evident.
Taking advantage of a KWR injury stoppage Ellinbank quickly altered their goaling line-up but by the last break the Bankers had only managed to hold on to a one-goal lead.
As the crowd lifted their teams into action KWR got away to a great start to the last quarter and hit the front by three goals.
But it wasn’t enough to keep the Bankers at bay and scores were soon levelled.
It became a battle of the defenders with both teams winning rebounds and converting at the other end.
With KWR holding a one-goal lead a call of obstruction on the final siren gave Ellinbank a chance to send the game into extra time and they didn’t let their supporters down.
A final chance for last minute instructions from the bench inspired the crowd into their own battle of volume in an effort to spur their teams on.
Overtime was tense for all with both teams taking turns to take the lead.
KWR lost their WA to injury but they didn’t skip a beat.
Both teams did extremely well to keep their composure but in the end it was Ellinbank snatching the premiership cup away from KWR with a final score of 43-41.
