The fine art of connecting

-

Artists, arts-related groups and arts administrators from six south-eastern shires will swap ideas and stories at the Fusion “unconference” in the Yarra Ranges next month.

This is the second year of ‘Fusion’ – the art of connection’, with support from Baw Baw, Cardinia, Bass Coast, South Gipplsand and Yarra Ranges shire councils and the City of Casey.

The aim is to improve relationships between artists, arts and cultural organisations, businesses and local government in the region.

Baw Baw Shire’s cultural development officer Karen Whitaker-Taylor said the advantage of an “unconference” was that participants could drive the agenda.

“They bring their issues, expertise, personality, ideas and conversation.

“It’s such an organic way to get a diverse mix of people and groups in one space for a common cause and that is to exchange ideas and create a dialogue which can be used in their business, artistic outlets and their day to day lives.”

Fusion is at the Burrinja Cultural Centre, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey, from 8.30am-5pm on Sunday, October 15. There is a networking event from 6.30-8.the night before.
