$39 million plan for new retirement village

-

A retirement village estimated to cost about $39 million to complete is proposed for Warragul.

If a planning application currently before Baw Baw Shire is approved the complex will be built on land currently used for grazing north of Mills Rd.

Access to the development, that is planned to have 151 individual villas, would be from a roadway to be constructed from Mills Rd.

The application to the shire has been lodged on behalf of Encore Living Warragul.

Encore has recently had shire approval and is well advanced with site works for a retirement village at Hardy Drive, Trafalgar.

It has also developed retirement villages at Bairnsdale and Leongatha.

As well as the 151 villas on the 9.7 hectare site there would be a communal clubhouse with a pool pavilion, games room, bar, function area, meeting room and outdoor patios.

There would be a separate community shed based broadly on the Men’s Shed concept and provision to park 22 large caravans or boats.

The two and three bedroom villas all with double garages would be built in three styles - “Brandy Creek”, “Jindivick” and “Lillico”.

There would be gated security of the village at night.

The application points out that the site is within the urban growth boundary in the Precinct Structure Plan for Warragul adopted by Baw Baw Shire Council.
