Funds for shed

-

The Labertouche and District Men’s Shed will comply with occupational health and safety regulations following the installation of air extractors.

The Labertouche and District Shed received $5299 in state government grant funding to allow it to complete the upgrade. The Shed was one in six from Eastern Victoria to share in $172,888 in funding.

The funding was part of a $1.2 million funding boost to build or refurbish 32 new or existing Men’s Sheds around Victoria.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said the shed upgrades will boost space for community programs and support the physical and mental wellbeing of locals.

Men’s Sheds are safe and practical places for men to meet, make social connections, develop new skills and actively participate in their local communities.

They also promote social inclusion and enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of men in local communities and are particularly important in remote communities.

“Men’s Sheds are extremely important in helping with the health and wellbeing of our Gippsland communities, and the support and friendship they provide can be lifesaving,” Ms Shing said.

“The Andrews Labor Government is proud to support Men’s Sheds - they’re a great space for locals to get together, make new friends, learn new skills and participate fully in their communities.”
