Warragul & Drouin Gazette

Arresting citizens deserve medals

-

I have read last week’s Gazette. We now know our area is not immune and isolated from the effects of serious crime and serious criminals.

I want to thank the four men who joined together to apprehend an alleged smash and grab youth in Victoria St last week.

I think they should be in line for a bravery and citizenship award.

I am appealing to you to be vigilant. Note anything you feel doesn't seem right. Note the time, date, place, colour of clothing and the vehicle and direction etc.

You may be able to draw on the information at a later date and supply it to the police. They need our help. If you see an incident, don't be frightened to ring 000.

Be prepared to quickly tell the operator that you want to speak to the police in your town. Quickly say what the matter is.

Sorry if you think I am being clever and paternalistic. I am proud to say that over the years, I have been directly involved in the apprehension of at least six criminals. Ian Honey Darnum in the next stages of the development". Cr Cook again states “this was just the start of the process and there was a lot of planning ahead for future development of the land”.

Three weeks prior to the council's September meeting to consider the approval of the rezoning, major earthworks and development had already begun and continues daily. How is this possible when the land rezoning has not been signed off by Planning Minister Richard Wynne? Perhaps our councillors and the shire’s planners should inspect the site.

Also I would like to clarify that my request for one acre lots is in line with the Baw Baw Planning recommendation to the independent panel. Vanessa Campbell Drouin like to know how many employees the shire employs along with the job descriptions.

We need councillors who take control of our council again. I personally would like to see self employed small business /farmer persons who are careful with the way they spend their own money.

We have great potential new councillors in among those nominating give them a go! I have done my homework and I know who I am voting for. John Daniels Warragul
