Warriors continue strong form

-

Warragul Warriors men have continued their strong form in Country Basketball League, scoring against Traralgon T-Birds at Warragul Leisure Centre on Saturday night.

The men were able to hold out Traralgon to win 87-76, while the women found the T-Birds too strong, going down 88-48.

The match had been tight throughout until the Warriors managed to get a run on in the second half. Noah Gown and Calvin Rees scored to extend the lead to 18 and despite a late charge from the T-Birds, the Warriors were able to steady.

Rees and Gown led the scoring with 23 and 19 respectively, while Rhys Anderson, Ambu Uliando and Liam Fitzpatrick also hit double figures.

Ben Barlow and Jarrod King-Church were dangerous for the T-Birds.

The T-Birds were too strong in the women’s, with their ability to score consistently helping them to a big win.

Tarnaly Hood dominated for the TBirds with 31 points, while Chelsea D’Angelo also scored well with 18 points.

Taylah Giliam and Ellie Coutts led the scoring for the Warriors with 11 points, while Abbey Noblett chipped in with 10 points.

The loss put the Warriors into second on the ladder, behind the T-Birds.

Country Basketball League will continue on Saturday with the women to host Maffra Eagles at Warragul Leisure Centre at 6pm.

The men will host the Eagles on Saturday night at 8pm and will back up on Sunday, hosting the Bairnsdale Bullets at 1pm.
